If I could live anywhere in the world I would live in Hawaii. I lived there with my family for 3 years thanks to the Army and we loved it. It was truly Hawaiiparadise! The weather was perfect all year around. I was able to spend a lot of time outside. I really became aware of my surroundings and the beauty of this world God has created for us. I loved looking at the trees and blossoming flowers. We had a banana tree in our backyard!!

I especially loved the rainbows, they were gorgeous. Bright, bold colors reminding me of God’s covenant with us. They were so bright it looked as though I could reach up and touch them. I really enjoyed when a double rainbow appeared after a warm sun shower, which was a special treat and always bought a smile to my face.

I heard people complain of island fever but I never felt that while living in Hawaii. Yes, Oahu is a small island and you could drive around the whole island within a few hours but I loved how each side had its own unique personality. We spent minimal time in Honolulu or Waikiki because that was geared towards tourist attractions and high end shopping trips. We spend most of our time on the North Shore. My family and I really enjoyed the North Shore because the waves were calm during the summer, the giant sea turtles would come up onto the beach and just chill out, and then there were the shrimp plates sold by the food trucks. Oh my goodness, so good!

We also had the opportunity to visit the other islands that comprised Hawaii. We visited Maui, Kaua’i, and the Big Island (Hawaii). What a treat that was as each island was unique and beautiful in its own special way.

Yes, we really loved living Hawaii. We loved it so much we are planning a family vacation for 2015! Aloha!
